KT Wash, a detergent manufacturing company located in Nigel, east of Johannesburg, has recently launched and started operations of their liquids detergent plant, making this the first Ariel liquids manufacturer in South Africa.
With the inception of their liquids section between February 2020 and October 2021, KT Wash has partnered with Procter & Gamble, and Tamela to bring this project to life. An estimated R140 million was invested in the construction and final operations of the plant, utilizing 95% of local equipment, and subsequently creating numerous direct and indirect jobs.
Well known for their production of washing powder, including that of their own brand, Sky Washing Powder, KT Wash will now introduce Ariel Handwash and top loader liquid detergent pouches, making this the first company to introduce liquid laundry packed pouches in South Africa. All process systems are designed to run efficiently with minimal environmental impact, ensuring that the company’s and third party’s values with regards to environmental sustainability are maintained to the highest standards.
What makes this breakthrough more unique are the top-of-the-line technology used for high-end processing capabilities, allowing higher efficiency products to be manufactured in the facility with high precision addition and high capacity.
“As the Project Manager and Engineer for this project, it has been the greatest privilege to be at the forefront of the design, fabrication, and commissioning of this plant. It has been an honour be afforded the chance to cement myself in this industry by managing a multi-million Rand project through a partnership with one of the world’s leading global manufacturers, Procter and Gamble,” says Tammarin Oelofse, Project Manager for KT Wash.
